Gift Box Tutorial by Lola

Happy Wednesday everyone!  Today we have Lola as our guest designer with a fabulous tutorial  so without further adieu, let me hand the reins over to Lola:

Hello all.  Today I'd like to share how to make a quick little gift box, so let's get started:

1) Start with a piece of 6" by 11" cardstock.  On the 6" side, score at 1" and 5".

2) On the 11" side, score at 1", 2", 4.5", 6.5", 9" and 10".  You will also do a short score at 3.5" and 7.5" (see picture for clarification).

3) Cut off shaded areas according to the following picture:

4) Cut side tabs according to the following picture:

5) Begin to fold box to form it's shape.

6) Glue small side tabs to INSIDE of long side tab.

7) For the top, you can glue, staple, punch holes and use ribbon, etc. to close the box after you have inserted gift.  There are lots of possibilities.

8) Embellish with your favorite papers and JSL image!

My Special Post

Vicki Romaine of The Cheerful Stamp Pad here.
I am so excited to be the feature designer this week for Just Some Lines.  I have created a couple of things for you this week.
The first card I created uses Gab-Window Gaze.  I think she is so cute with all her curls.  I used a black base and then a mat of partially black and white designer paper and partially solid yellow cardstock.  I like the color combination as it has a crisp and clean look and that is what Gab is doing--cleanibg. The embellishment is a flower which has a yellow punch flower that I clipped and curled the petals and a  bought flower on top.  For the flower center I used a clear stone.  The sentiment is by Stampin' Up.
Here is my second creation--a tag.  I did a few things different on this tag.  The background is made of two pieces of material.  The image is also Just Some Lines.  The two girls are colored with Copic markers.  The clouds are two pieces of foam.  The thread at the bottom is adhesive thread.  Down the side I put a sentiment which I made on the computer.
Tutorial

I have a little tutorial for today. It is for a Post-It Note Cover. The directions are so simple that there is really no need to film it. Just follower step by step.

Post-It Note Cover

1. Cut a piece of cardstock to 3.5 inches x 7.5 inches.

2. Score on the long side at 3.5 inches.

3. Turn cardstock around 90 degrees and scor again at 3.5 inches.

4. This will leave you a band in the middle of 1/2 inch.

5. Take a bone folder and crease the two folds so they are crisp. NOTE: do not put post-it pad into the cover until you have finish step 6.

 6. Decorate as desired. If you use lace or a trim that wraps around the cover like I did, you will want to cut 2 pieces of designer paper or cardstock to cover where the trim begins and ends. Cut these into two 3.5  inches squares.

Glue these pieces on the front and back (inside).

7. Insert your 3 inch square post-it note inside and glue. Make sure you have the glued side of the pad facing the spine of the cover you just made. Your cover may either open from the bottom or from the side like mine.

Here is my little finished  Post-It Note Cover.  So much fun!  Quick and easy!

ATCs in a trio...with Laura

Hi y'all!
Laura here checking in from the "badlands of Iowa".
Life has been REALLY interesting here in the badlands lately.
I'd really like the sun to come visit us again....
it was cold, windy & rainy all weekend.
I've been a sobbing snot monster for the past week.
Hormones and sinus infections...gotta love em...right?
I'm on the mend, and you're assured I can't make you sick!
ANYWAY, enough about me .

These are some ATC (Artist Trading Cards) made recently for a swap

I'm just really not very fussy in my design, so CAS (Clean and Simple) is pretty much how I make stuff

1st digi: Gift Girl
2nd digi: Funky Flamingo
3rd digi: Yummy Bone
All the digis were laser printed on plain old copy paper, colored with Copics, then fussy cut.
The digis were mounted on kraft paper that had been embossed and swiped with ink to pop out the design.
The scriptural quotes are from an old Examining the Scriptures Daily book. They are mounted on random pieces of PostyNotes.

Thanks for popping in today, consider yourself hugged!
Love, Laura

REMINDER - GIVE THE GIFT OF FLOWERS CHALLENGE!

Hello everyone!  It's Audrey here today with your friendly reminder that you have until 11:59pm EST on Friday, May 4 to come play along in our GIVE THE GIFT OF FLOWERS CHALLENGE.  You can find the challenge HERE or by clicking the challenge badge at left.  Please make sure you link to the challenge post and not to this one.

For my creation today, I had the wonderful problem of having a plethora of images to choose from - JUST SOME LINES SHOP has many beautiful images of giving flowers.  I have chosen to use CUTE LITTLE GIRL image.  I have colored her with Copics and cut out using Nesties.  I cut the scalloped border with a Lifestyle Crafts die and added flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts.  Sentiment is from Pink By Design clear stamps and cut with Nestie, added Prima pearls.   CS is Bazzill and DP is Theresa Co.  Thanks for looking.

Laura has made this wonderful bookmark for the challenge using

Hope you will come join us!!  Remember, you can use whatever images you like, just follow the theme and your creation must be new.  If you use an image from JUST SOME LINES SHOP, you will get an additional entry for purposes of our random.org drawing for the winner.

Spring Showers!

Happy Monday!  Jenn here bringing you some sunshine with our rainy day images!  I like to keep a stash of "just because" cards on hand, and these images are perfect for those types of cards.  They're also perfect for "Cheer Up" cards, bridal shower cards/invites, and much more!

For my first card, I used one of our newer images, Spring Showers, colored with Copics, Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits.  DP is from My Mind's Eye, ribbon is from SU!

Next is a card using an older image, Emo Amber April Showers:

I paper-pieced her clothes, boots, and umbrella - I just love this image, isn't she sweet?  I added a rub-on sentiment from SU! and a button from my stash.  Make sure you run over to the JSL store for some rainy day fun!

Hope you're enjoying sunshine wherever you are!  Peace.

NEW CHALLENGE - GIVE A GIFT OF FLOWERS

Before we get onto this week's challenge, we have some "house keeping" items, as in our WINNER'S from our Moons and Stars challenge.  Thanks so much to everyone who played with us, your creations were all fabulous.

Random.org has chosen

The winner is STEPH who got an extra entry for using an image from JUST SOME LINES SHOP, way to go Steph!!

Please e-mail Audrey at danmoose@aol.com to claim your prize, a $12 voucher to JUST SOME LINES SHOP.  Feel free to grab our winner's badge as well.

and our DT member Jenn has chosen TOP 3

3.) Steph
4.)ginny/Rubber MAD
5.) Teju Yenkat

Congrats and please feel free to take our Top 3 badge from the sidebar.

Now it's Vicki here and I am happy to start a new challenge here on Just Some Lines.  This challenge is so easy.  You can GIVE THE GIFT OF FLOWERS with only one flower like my Emo here or you may give a basket of flowers.  In any case the focal point must be someone with flowers or the flowers themselves.  Have fun with this as Spring is here and there are flowers abound.

I very seldom make a square card, but I thought I would make one this time.  It is a gate-fold card.   Emo is placed on a double Spellbinder mat and then placed on a square white mat  This is adhered to one side of the gate-fold card.  The right flap slips under the center image to hold it closed.   The inside and the outside of the back uses the same color scheme and matting.

Below is some insspiration for you from some of the other members of the Design Team.

HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

Hey everyone!  Hope you are all having a great week.  It's Audrey here with you today.  I have been practicing using my Copics quite a bit lately and trying to learn how to do some new stuff.   I have been working a lot with coloring hair - experimenting with different color combos and also getting it to look like strands rather than helmet head.  There are a wealth of amazing tutorials on You Tube for Copic coloring techniques.

I also decided that I want to learn how to do pleats on a dress that doesn't have pleats and found a wonderful video by Colleen Schaan that provides very clear instruction on how to accomplish this.  I have used this technique to color Emo Amber Prays from JUST SOME LINES SHOP.  I would love to know what you think.  Here is the image

And here she is colored with pleats added to her dress.

I have used markers BG 11, 13, 15 and 49 for her dress and pleats.  Papers are Bazzill CS, Basic Grey and Creative Imaginations DP.  Sentiment is from Verve and cut with Nellie's die, Doodlebug twine added.  Ribbon is from my stash, buttons from Bag O' Buttons, circle cut with Nellie's die and image and background cut with Nesties.  Hope you like it!

Just Fishin you a Great Birthday!

Well, I don't think anyone will care if I pop in the blog today and post a little card - LOL!
I just love this little guy - he's called boy fishes.  He is way too cute

I used a negative from another cut and cut him with the next smaller nestability.  Cuttlebugged the base, a ribbon and Voila!  Done!  Simple but I'm so into simple lately and I always need male cards!

Thanks for popping in and check out the store and/or the image I used by clicking on the store button on the side or the hyperlink above!

Yummy Bone with Laura

Hi y'all!
Laura checking in from "the badlands of Iowa".
We seemed to have dodged the worst of the weather over the past weekend.
Prayers going out to the families affected by the tornadoes in the South & Midwest US.

This is an ATC I made for a swap recently, I just love the expressions Jehanne can get on the dogs faces.
Pure satisfaction is what I see. Yummy Bone indeed.

Thanks for popping in today!
Love, Laura
